Loches near Tours in the Loire Valley, France

Spacious two bedroomed gite to rent sleeps 4 - 6 in 2 bedrooms plus mezzanine. The newly renovated farm house is set in 2 acres of gardens and orchards that offer views over the countryside of the Indre-et-Loire. The rental is available with or without the superb heated swimming pool.

The restoration has been accomplished with great sensitivity, resulting in a comfortable house with all mod cons, but still with the character of its heritage. The equipment is new throughout and the house has been beautifully and sympathetically furnished with a mixture of antique and modern high quality furniture, to provide confort and convenience.

This gite has a glorious location and is accessed by a track from a minor road which runs some 150 yards away.

While the building itself has been restored using traditional materials by skilled craftsmen to retain all its historic and considerable charm, the kitchen is completely modern and fully equipped with dishwasher and washing machine, Panasonic microwave combination oven, double sink with mixer tap, built-in units and laminated tops etc.

• Master bedroom: Sleeps 2 with an oak double bed. The full-length window has views over the Touraine.
• Second bedroom: A new pair of single Myers divan beds and a Spring Air pocket sprung bed on a pine base makes this bedroom suitable for a couple plus child or 3 people.
• Mezzanine: The sofa bed on the landing can allow the house to accommodate a further person if needed, or permit the second bedroom to be used by a couple only.

THE GARDEN

If the fruit is ripe (plums, cherries, apples, pears, peaches and nectarines), you are welcome to help yourself! A gardener maintains the grounds without the aid of fertilisers or chemicals, so you can enjoy fruit that is pure and entirely organic.

Traditional farm buildings form part of the property. These outbuildings are very attractive and add great character to the property.

The house is 10km to the East of Loches and 1km from Montresor. Tours is served by Ryanair from Stansted and also by the TGV which takes one hour from Charles de Gaulle airport, Paris.

Much of the route from Tours to Loches and through the Foret de Loches to Montresor are marked with a 'green line' in the Michelin Guide, which indicated a scenic route. You will therefore enjoy every journey of exploration that you make from this house to the villages and towns of the Loire area, and to its famous chateau. Needless to say, there are numerous restaurants where the local cuisine can be savoured.
