Chateau de Mont-Felix was built in the 19th Century and is still in the ownership of the original family. Set in twenty acres of woodland, park and lawns, it overlooks the picturesque village of St.Jean - St. Germain in the Loire valley to the South East of Tours.
The Chateau for rental
Mont-Felix offers spacious and elegant accommodation. Its antique furnishings are complemented by modern items to ensure a comfortable stay.
The ground floor has two large salons.
The smaller salon is equipped with a colour satellite TV (which can receive English channels) and a DVD player. Internet access is also available. The view from the main salon and its terrace is truly breathtaking - across the park and lawn, with their magnificent 200-year-old Lebanese cedar trees, and on to the village of St.Jean.
The large South facing dining room seats 10 to l2 people in comfort and shares similar breathtaking views to the main salon.
A modern and well-equipped kitchen with microwave and dishwasher leads off from the dining room.
All the rooms have interesting views across the local woodland and are wonderfully light and airy.
Cellar games room
The cellar features a full size table tennis table should you fancy a game!There is also a utility room with a large washing machine and tumble dryer.
The swimming pool
The swimming pool (12 x 6 meters) is located in the grounds close to the Chateau with a woodland backdrop and comments in the guest book indicate that many pleasant hours are enjoyed in this little 'niche' at Mont Felix. It is fenced in compliance with French safety laws, for the security of children, although parents should always remain vigilent.
The Pool faces South and has sunshine throughout the day, with extensive views overlooking the front lawn and the village of St. Jean. A small timber chalet provides room for changing and it is equipped with a solar powered shower. Poolside furniture includes sun loungers for relaxation, and a gas barbecue caters for al fresco dining.
The pool water is treated by a natural method; no chemicals are added. 3 steps lead into the shallow area of the pool, for young children or less able swimmers, and what a wonderful place for them to learn and gain confidence!
Rental Accommodation
The 5 double and twin-bedded bedrooms have modern en-suites. Two of the bedrooms have single rooms adjoining, making a total of 7. Each bedroom has an individual style in keeping with the house - spacious and comfortable.
Venue for workshops and events
The Area
The medieval town of Loches has its own magnificent Chateau and Dungeon and is renowned for being one of the oldest and best-preserved towns in France. It has a wonderful market on Wednesdays and Saturdays, which should not be missed.
The capital of the Touraine, Tours, is a beautiful city with something of interest for everyone.
The famous Chateaux de Chenonceau, Chambord, Chinon, Amboise and Blois are within easy driving distance.
And for a total contrast, the famous Future Scope Theme Park is 40 miles away and well worth a visit.
For the sports minded within 2 miles of Mont Felix there are excellent tennis courts and a public nine hole golf course. The area is perfect for cycling and walking and bicycles can be rented in Loches.
Information on the Loire Valley location
Chateau de Mont-Felix is situated in the village of St.Jean - St. Germain, three miles to the South of Loches on the route national 143 from Tours, some twenty-five miles distant.
Price
The price range is from £2000 (pounds sterling) to £3000 per week inclusive, depending on the season.Bookings of two weeks or more can attract a discount of £250 to £500 pounds.
The price is inclusive of Electricity, Gas, Linen and 6 hours Housekeeping weekly. This charge is based on a maximum of 12 people renting, and an additional charge will be applicable for larger groups.
The property is rented on a weekly basis from Saturday at 5:00pm until 10:00am the following Saturday.
