HOLIDAY HOUSE FOR RENT
The property nestles in a small farming hamlet, within easy reach of the small market town of Meyssac with all amenities and the picturesque village of Le Pescher.
The architecture is typical of houses in the Correze, with a high pitched roof and 'cave' on ground level spanning the whole area of the house, with iron railings leading to a terrace.
There are stone barns and walls in a pretty garden with paved terrace. The adjacent fruit orchard has wonderful views of the Mondiere. It is in the Correze bordering on the department of the Lot.
Stone steps lead up to the first floor level and terrace outside the main front door. The entrance opens into a colourful sitting room with large open 'cantou' fireplace. This room leads into the fully equipped kitchen and dining room with comfortable chairs including dining furniture. This room overlooks the garden and has a small terrace with steps leading to the garden and barns. Also on this level is study/bedroom with shower room ensuite. The 'cave'underneath the house houses the boiler, hot water system and washing machine.
RENTAL ACCOMMODATION
The 2nd floor level has two bedrooms, one double and one single. The bathroom with shower, toilet and washbasin is in between.
The windows overlook the garden and ancient barns. On the first floor there is a bedroom with shower room and toilet ensuite.
SOUTHERN LIMOUSIN TOURIST INFORMATION
The Southern Limousin area is one of outstanding natural beauty, undulating hills with wonderful views as far as the Mondiere and the Lime Causses of the Lot. The countryside is magnificent from Spring to Autumn. The area is known for the Limousin cows which graze peacefully in the verdant pastures, and the walnut harvest in the autumn. The Correze is famous for its cuisine of foi gras, walnut oil and cabecou cheeses.
There are many towns and villages to visit including the famous Beaux Village of Collonges La Rouge with its red stone and the medieval hill top village of Turenne which is steeped in history, both close by. Rocamadour, Martel with its seven towers and Sarlat are all within a 45 minute drive. The famous cave paintings of Lascaux and the deep caves of Padirac make an easy excursion, along with the castles Beynac and Belcastel.
The River Dordogne meanders its way through peaceful valleys and walnut groves in front of picturesque towns and villages. Canoeing on this river is a must. Canoes can be rented from different locations along the river and there is a bus to bring you back.There also designated areas for swimming. If you like water sports there is the Lac du Causse just 30 minutes away with sailing, surfing and a sandy beach. Mountain biking and walking are extremely popular and the tourist office has maps of all the walks, along with places to rent bicycles.
Fishing permits can be obtained locally. There are three golf courses of international repute within 30 minutes. These include Souillac and Aubazine.
The local towns and villages of Meyssac, Beaulieu, Martel and Bretenoux all have weekly markets and the beautiful city of Brive-La-Gaillarde 20 minutes drive away has one of the best covered markets in France. The area is renowned for its gastronomy.
In summer there are evening markets selling local produce. A barbecue and trestle tables are set up and you can cook the food you have bought and eat it at the tables. In addition there is often music, dancing and fireworks. There are concerts in the churches and chateaux. Souillac has a Jazz Festival. There are many brocantes and vide greniers in the picturesque villages.

How to get here:
Limoges is the nearest international airport where you can hire a car or get the train to Brive-La-Gaillarde. Limoges is an hour and a half away. Brive-La-Gaillarde station is approximately 20 minutes drive. At Brive-La-Gaillarde there are main line services to Paris and Toulouse. The nearest ferry ports are Le Havre and Caen. Junction 52 on the A20 autoroute is 10 kilometres.
